1. Introduction to "SIF   SKI-TOWS"      (  Module for skitow systems )

Only one Excel module with Visual-Basic code makes it possible to test the configuration of the ropes in skitow systems, even with curved running, providing a user-friendly work environment, wherein:

    • the data can be loaded in graphical or numerical format by means of he mouse; the geometrical configuration of ground profile and line can be shown in graphical mode during both data input and result representation stages;
    • the numerical results can be prompted to the User through the traditional Excel work sheet, therefore, the user can change, integrate and export the calculation results;
    • all the calculation results can be printed out; printout preview and DXT drawing export provide further flexibility to the program;
    • Sif-Skitow is a program which makes use of only one Excel model, inclusive of different Visual-Basic code modules.

1.4 General conditions

The programme, consisting of the information readable on the magnetic or optic medium and any other material attached to the disks, remains the property of the author Ing. Vittoriano Vitali. The customer only purchases one user licence for the programme which is valid for installation on a single machine.

The customer cannot alter or remove any brand, commercial name, serial number or other notices reserving rights inserted in the programme and/or on its medium.

The user licence for the programme does not include the faculty to obtain it a source format, or to have access to the relative project documentation, or the outline of any data files present in or created by the programme.

In the event of a fault on the original disks, the author will replace the damaged disks with new disks after the damaged disks have been returned, charging the customer with the cost of shipping costs alone.

The need to check the suitability of the programme as a means of obtaining particular results, its installation, and its use and management are the sole responsibility of the customer. The Author only guarantees that the magnetic or optical medium is free from manufacturing defects (if not, he undertakes to replace the disks free of charge after the damaged disks have been returned), excluding any other guarantee.

Under no circumstances will the Author of the software be responsible for damage of any kind connected and/or consequent to any defects in the quality, suitability, use and usability of the programme.

The customer may not under any circumstances assigne or sub-license the licence to third parties.

Should the customer violate any of the obligations set out in the articles above, the Author may terminate the user licence in a simple written notice. In this event, the customer must abstain from making further use of the programme and he may be asked to destroy any copies of the programme that are in his possession in any form or to return them.

1.5 Program installation

To install SIF programs from CD-ROM, just insert the CD, which will automatically start the installation procedure. If not, use the command START / RUN, d:\setup (where d: is the CD-ROM drive).

The procedure, after selecting the directory for program installation and copying all the required files, will ask you the licence user data.

WARNING: the data should be loaded in proper and complete mode so as to ensure proper future program perfomance.

 1.6 Program start up

To run the program at anytime as it is required, desktop link should be provided for direct connection to the MENU.XLS file into programs directory.

1.7 Instruction Manual and On-line Help

On-line Help is provided to make it possible for the user to get further information on the software or specific functions.

The Instruction Manual includes many files directly connected to the main file, called Index.

Each item in the Index is an active hypertext link which makes it possible for the User to "jump" to the selected text with a simple left-mouse click. The presence of an hypertext link is easily recognisable as the words are underlined and the mouse cursor changes its shape (from an arrow into a small hand).
